While in the last few days I may have needed a mental health treatment more than ever, I indulged in the craziness of preparing to leave town instead and eschewed the apples (no pun intended, but noted). Neil and I are spending a long week in Vancouver in celebration of our 25 wonderful years of marriage. I am stoutly resolved to stay away from my umbilical mouse cord and am NOT TAKING MY COMPUTER on the trip. Call it a rest cure.

I leave the house and the dogs to the expert care of Heather and bid adieu for a bit. Apples will return in plenty of time to celebrate our anniversary on its actual day (August 14).

You can leave me comments by clicking on the little pencil symbol below the post. Be back soon.

Day 7

My mental health was such over the weekend that I had no need to visit my computer. Celebrated my husband's 50th birthday. Happy Birthday Neil.

Day 5

Day 1 revisited

I am five days into what is already turning into an exciting challenge for me. I am only now considering the kind of workflow I need to be able to make it happen with grace and sanity. And as I approach the day when I am ready to put my art up on the virtual auction block, I encountered a problem with the print of my first work. I am sorry to say that this print will not be available as, true to the nature of the project, I do not have a high resolution file from which to print it.

But fear not, I am presenting here, in addition to my original Day 5 work, a re-creation of the Day 1 work. I hope that Day 1 v2 is as pleasing as its older sibling.

Day 4

An artist creates something out of nothing, zip, zero. In the world of digital art, the creations are made from zeros and ones.

Day 3

I used a variety of square brushes to give a more cubist view.

Off to a good start – Day 2

Thanks to all my loyal supporters for the encouragement you are giving me in this venture. Pass it along to your friends and colleagues. And feel free to post your comments in the blog.

In this image, I love how the apple seems to float above the shadow.

And so it begins...

Today, I started with a digital photograph of an apple – a Fuji I believe. I import the image to Photoshop where I cropped it and made some minor enhancements.
Next, I imported the image into Synthetik Studio Artist, a favorite program I use. I'll talk more about Studio Artist in the future.
Then the image goes back into Photoshop for adjustments and printing.

This image was printed on LuxArt  76 lb. paper by Red River Paper on an Epson Stylus Photo R340 Printer.

Coming soon, bid for this original piece of art!
